Looking for a compact, travel-friendly drone that doesn’t compromise on performance or camera quality?
We recently tested the Potensic ATOM SE GPS Drone, and it’s easily one of the most feature-packed drones under 249g we’ve come across.
Despite its ultra-lightweight frame, the ATOM SE handles like a pro. The brushless motor gives it level-5 wind resistance, meaning it remains stable even when conditions get breezy. And since it weighs under 249g, you can skip FAA and Remote ID registration—great for beginners and frequent travelers.
We were especially impressed by the 4K EIS camera with a Sony sensor. It captures sharp, shake-free footage at 30fps, with a wide 118° field of view and tilting range from +20° to -90°. Whether you’re filming landscapes or overhead action, the image quality is top-notch.
Controlling the drone feels intuitive, thanks to the SurgeFly system, which includes Beginner, Video, Normal, and Sport modes. In Sport mode, we hit a top speed of 16m/s in just under 3 seconds, which is seriously fast for a sub-250g drone.
Battery life is another win—two included 2500mAh batteries gave us a total of 62 minutes of flight time, which is more than enough for most shoots. The PixSync 2.0 tech kept our 4K video feed stable and low-latency even at longer ranges—up to 4km (13,000+ feet), which was surprisingly reliable.
GPS features like Auto Return, Follow Me, Waypoint Flight, and Circle Flight make this drone easy and fun for any skill level. If the battery runs low or you lose connection, the ATOM SE smartly returns to the take-off point on its own.
Overall, we highly recommend the Potensic ATOM SE for anyone looking for a lightweight, beginner-friendly drone with premium features. It’s compact, powerful, and offers excellent value for the price.
